020226 Tell Congress: End ICE raids in Minnesota and investigate the deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti

For weeks, Minnesota communities have lived under siege. Federal immigration agents have conducted aggressive raids throughout the Twin Cities, resulting in the deaths of two people: Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse.

Despite promises of "de-escalation," the raids continue. Children are too afraid to attend school. Families haven't left their homes in seven to eight weeks. Parents stand watch at daycares. Communities use emergency alert systems to warn neighbors of ICE sightings.

Here’s what the damage has looked like on the ground since Trump unleashed ICE on Minnesota communities:

  • American lives lost - Two people are dead. Attorney General Pam Bondi provides no transparency about the circumstances that led to these deaths.

  • Constitutional violations - Federal agents operate without proper oversight, threatening Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.

  • Community trauma - Schools have expanded remote learning because children are too frightened to attend. Families miss critical medical appointments. The damage will persist for years.

  • Targeting elected officials - Representative Ilhan Omar was attacked at a town hall after criticizing ICE. Instead of condemning the violence, Trump baselessly claimed "she probably had herself sprayed."

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stated clearly: "We just need them out of here, and we need accountability for what's happened."

Congress must investigate these deaths, end militarized immigration raids, protect local jurisdictions from being forced to enforce federal immigration laws, and hold federal officials accountable for constitutional violations.
