021026 Tell Congress: Investigate RFK Jr.'s False Testimony

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. traveled to Samoa to lobby against vaccines in 2019. Four months later, 83 people, mostly children, died from a catastrophic measles outbreak.

Then, he lied to Congress about it.

During his confirmation hearings, Kennedy repeatedly testified that his June 2019 trip to Samoa had "nothing to do with vaccines." But State Department emails show US embassy and UN staff documented Kennedy was visiting specifically because of his vaccine safety concerns. His anti-vaccine group had been contacting Samoan officials for months. He lied to Congress, and it’s time they hold him accountable.

Samoan officials confirm Kennedy's visit gave credibility to anti-vaccine activists during the crisis. Hawaii's Governor Josh Green led the medical response and witnessed children dying in overwhelmed hospitals. He now says Kennedy's deception during confirmation is "unacceptable" and that the emails show Kennedy "misled the Senate."

Three members of Congress have called out Kennedy's lies. Senator Ed Markey stated: "RFK Jr is a liar. He lied to me about his anti-vax Samoa trip." Markey noted that making false statements to Congress is a federal crime. Senator Ron Wyden said Kennedy "lied to Congress about his role in Samoa" and promised accountability.

Meanwhile, Kennedy has stacked the CDC vaccine advisory panel with conspiracists while measles spreads across America. The US is positioned to lose its measles elimination status if Congress doesn’t stop Kennedy’s lies now.
