030426 Tell Congress: Audit The DOJ's Abuse of Power

Four law firms refused to bow to Trump. The DOJ just proved why that matters.

On Monday, the Justice Department dropped its appeal against court rulings that blocked Trump's retaliatory executive orders targeting law firms. All parties agreed. Then overnight, the DOJ reversed course and reinstated the appeal.

This is what unchecked power looks like:

  • Trump used executive orders to strip security clearances and revoke government access from firms that represented his political rivals or defended DEI initiatives

  • Nine firms capitulated, some committing tens of millions in pro-bono work to Trump-favored causes

  • The DOJ defied an agreed court withdrawal with a single unexplained paragraph — while all four opposing firms objected

When the president weaponizes the Justice Department against lawyers for doing their jobs, everyone's rights are at risk. Congress must step in now.
