041526 Tell Congress: No Health Care Cuts to Fund the Iran War
Republicans in Congress are moving to cut federal health care programs to help pay for up to $200 billion for the war in Iran — a conflict that over 60 percent of Americans oppose.
Medicaid, ACA subsidies, and your coverage will all be on the chopping block if we don’t act now.
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington is reviving a proposal to cut cost-sharing payments that make ACA plans affordable for millions. This comes on top of last year's deep Medicaid cuts and newly imposed work requirements. Meanwhile, a new Gallup poll shows 61 percent of Americans say health care affordability is their single biggest concern. Congress is on the verge of ignoring that entirely.
Tell your representatives to take two clear actions:
Reject any health care cuts to fund the Iran war. Medicaid, ACA subsidies, and other federal health programs must not be used as offsets for military spending.
Vote no on the $200 billion Iran war supplemental bill. Congress should refuse to authorize a blank check for an unauthorized, unpopular war with no defined goals or exit strategy.
