050926 National Park Service Needs Experts—Not Corporate Insiders (Animal Commons)

America’s national parks are supposed to be safe havens for wildlife—not playgrounds for political favors or unqualified appointees.

But instead, we got a nominee whose main qualification was working for a corporate concessions company—not managing public lands, protecting wildlife, or leading a federal agency. That pick collapsed after widespread backlash, leaving the National Park Service leaderless again.

The Park Service is already struggling with deep staffing cuts and proposed budget reductions that threaten its ability to protect our parks. Our parks—and the wildlife who depend on them—cannot afford another unqualified nominee.

That’s why we’re calling on Donald Trump to do the right thing and select a qualified nominee.

Sign Animal Commons’ petition if you agree: Trump must appoint a proven, experienced conservation leader to run the National Park Service—NOT another political insider or industry executive.

In solidarity,
