061925 Juneteenth

All across the country, right-wing politicians are banning books, rewriting curriculums, and threatening teachers for teaching Black history.

They don’t want students learning about slavery, segregation, police violence, or the movements that fought back. They want to whitewash the past — and silence the present.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • State legislatures have introduced hundreds of bills to restrict how race and history are taught

  • Schools are pulling books off the shelves, including ones by Toni Morrison, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and even Martin Luther King Jr.

  • Teachers are being fired or silenced simply for telling the truth

On Juneteenth, we honor the legacy of Black liberation — not with symbolic gestures, but with action. We won’t let them erase history. And we won’t let them decide what our children get to know.

Every name added builds pressure on school boards, governors, and Congress to stand up for truth in education — and reject this wave of censorship.

In solidarity,

Nash
