101625 Tell Congress: Defend the Voting Rights Act

The Supreme Court appears ready to overturn Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act—the federal protection against racial discrimination in voting. As a result, Republicans could redraw at least 19 congressional districts in their favor.

Up to 30% of the Congressional Black Caucus could be eliminated. Entire states will lose minority representation. The Trump Justice Department is pushing for this outcome right now.

What's at stake:

  • Protections against racial discrimination in voting

  • Democratic representation across the South

  • 30% of the Congressional Black Caucus

  • 11% of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus

  • Equal voting rights for communities of color
