102725 Tell Congress: Stop Military Deployment To Portland

A federal appeals court just cleared the way for President Trump to deploy National Guard troops to Portland—despite evidence the city is peaceful and no emergency exists.

Congress has the power to stop this. They can block federal funding for the deployment, pass resolutions opposing it, and hold hearings on this abuse of presidential authority.

What's at stake:

  • States' sovereignty over their own National Guard forces

  • First Amendment rights to peaceful assembly

  • Constitutional limits on presidential power to deploy military on American streets

Even a dissenting appeals judge warned this ruling "erodes core constitutional principles" and gives the president "unilateral power" with "almost no justification."

Congress must act before troops deploy under false pretenses.
