110525 Tell Congress: Restore Full SNAP Benefits Now

For the first time in the 60-year history of the food stamp program, the Trump administration has frozen SNAP benefits—leaving 42 million Americans, including 16 million children, without their primary source of food assistance.

While two federal judges have ruled this freeze unlawful and ordered benefits restored, the administration announced it will only pay 50% of normal benefits using contingency funds. Full benefits could be delayed for weeks or even months in some states.

While Trump delays, Congress must act now.

  • Congress has the power to end this crisis. They can:

  • Pass emergency funding legislation to fully restore SNAP benefits immediately

  • Override the shutdown to ensure food assistance continues uninterrupted

  • Hold oversight hearings on the administration's unprecedented decision to halt benefits

  • Mandate use of all available contingency and emergency funds to provide full assistance

42 million Americans cannot wait. Every day without benefits means families skipping meals, children going hungry, and seniors choosing between food and medicine.

In solidarity,
