111225 Denounce 8 Dems Who Killed Healthcare Subsidies

After weeks of a painful government shutdown, Democrats were supposed to stand united for affordable healthcare. But when it mattered most, eight Senate Democrats broke ranks—voting with Donald Trump and the GOP to reopen the government without restoring Affordable Care Act subsidies that keep healthcare affordable for millions of Americans.

Senators Tim Kaine, Dick Durbin, John Fetterman, Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan, Angus King, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Jacky Rosen voted to end subsidies that protect working families from soaring healthcare costs.

Without these subsidies, families could see their monthly premiums double next year. Seniors will pay significantly more for prescriptions. Younger families will face impossible choices between rent, groceries, and healthcare coverage.

For weeks, Democrats in Congress fought side by side to hold the line against Trump's attack on healthcare. Federal workers went without paychecks. Benefits were delayed. Americans suffered through the shutdown—all to protect affordable care.

Then these eight senators surrendered.

Congress has the power to fix this crisis. They can:

  • Pass emergency legislation to restore ACA subsidies immediately

  • Prevent premium increases that will hit millions of families in 2026

  • Hold accountability votes to show who stands with working families vs. who caves to Trump

The Congressional Budget Office has warned that eliminating these subsidies will cause premiums to spike and millions to lose coverage. These eight senators voted for that outcome.
