120425 Tell Congress: Block the VA's Deportation Database
The Department of Veterans Affairs is building a database of every non-US citizen working with the agency—and will hand it directly to ICE for deportations.
Who's targeted:
Doctors and nurses caring for veterans. Medical students in training. Research scientists. Volunteers. Contractors. Even military veterans who served America but aren't yet citizens. Thousands of legal permanent residents and authorized workers face deportation.
What happens next:
VA Secretary Doug Collins will receive the complete database on December 30. The VA has confirmed it will share the data with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. No similar list exists for US citizens—only non-citizens are targeted.
The cost:
Healthcare workers flee. Patient safety suffers. Veteran care collapses. All because Trump is turning the VA into a deportation machine.
As Congresswoman Delia Ramirez said: "List-making by the state is an authoritarian tactic meant to stoke fear. The VA is persecuting noncitizen employees who provide essential services to our veterans."
What you can do:
Sign the petition demanding Congress block this database, prohibit VA data-sharing with ICE, and protect legal workers who serve our veterans.
In solidarity,
